Conflict prevention and peacebuilding are not isolated initiatives. Rather they are best conceptualised as a continuum of activities covering various stages of the life cycle of conflict (from rising tensions to the outbreak of conflict to post-crisis stabilisation). Thus, in order to examine current examples of conflict prevention and peacebuilding and to offer policy-relevant advice to practitioners, EU-CIVCAP will examine conflict prevention and peacebuilding through the entire conflict cycle in order to provide a holistic assessment of exiting capabilities and potential capability shortfalls.
