On 12 September 2018, the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) in Brussels hosted the Final Conference of the EU-CIVCAP project under the title “Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding: Lessons for the EU”. The Final Conference served to showcase the key lessons and best practices identified in the project’s research and the relevance of its main findings for policy-makers and practitioners in EU conflict prevention and peacebuilding.
Research Meets Policy Seminar 3 – “Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding: Lessons from Research”
On 25 June 2018, the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) in Brussels hosted the third and last EU-CIVCAP Research Meets Policy Seminar. Prof Michael E. Smith, leader of EU-CIVCAP’s Work Package 7, presented the EU-CIVCAP Catalogue of Lessons Identified and the draft report on best practices, following which comments were given by two discussants and a debate was opened with the audience.
Peacebuilding Forum 6 – “The EU’s foreign policy and commitment to gender, peace and security”
Gender issues are central to the changes that are currently taking place in EU foreign policy and peacebuilding, including many developments that are not explicitly billed as feminist, such as bottom-up, inclusive approaches rather than engaging with elites exerting control.
Workshop 5 – “The EU and local capacity building”
The workshop on the EU and local capacity building took place on 14 May 2018 in Bristol, UK. The event was attended by participants from the academic community, civil society, international organisations and representatives from the private sector.
Peacebuilding Forum 5 – “Peacetech: Exploring the potential of technologies for conflict prevention and peacebuilding”
Policymakers and practitioners in conflict prevention, management, and resolution have been turning their attention towards new technologies and analysing their potential in helping international and local actors utilise innovative technologies in security operations.

The workshop on EU conflict prevention and peacebuilding in the Western Balkans and the Horn of Africa took place on 11 October 2017 in the framework of the annual Belgrade Security Forum in Serbia.
